Dallas, Texas is known as a classic southern city with many southern belles and good ole boys that love their hometown and are proud to often use the term, everything is bigger in Texas. Texans love their sports and the Dallas area has a big selection of professional teams to watch including the Dallas Cowboys football team, the Dallas Mavericks NBA team, The Dallas Stars hockey team and the FC Dallas MLS team says a Frisco lawyer. Because there are no major college sports teams in the Dallas city limits, their professional teams have huge fan bases, particularly the Dallas Cowboys as football is the favorite sport in Texas according to a Frisco attorney.

The Dallas Cowboys have been called “America’s Team” and have won 5 Super Bowl wins. They currently play in the just recently built Cowboy Stadium that was finished in 2009 and is located in Arlington which is right outside of Dallas. Due to the huge fan base, they have had the greatest number of sell out crowds out of any NFL team and were said to be the wealthiest NFL team with the largest revenue earnings by Forbes magazine. Their biggest rival is the Washington Redskins and Sports Illustrated said it is one of the greatest rivals in the history of football. Some of the best former players for the Cowboys have been Roger Staubach, Michael Irvin, and Troy Aiken only to name a few. Their Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders also are the best known and popular cheerleading squads for professional football with their famous short shorts and white cowgirl boots.

For basketball fans, the fans may go to watch the Dallas Mavericks play at Reunion Arena. They are a fairly new team as the former NBA team in the Dallas area was the Dallas Chaparrals who later moved and became the San Antonio Spurs. The Mavericks basketball team started in 1980 under the first head coach named Dick Motta. Jay Vincent, Derek Harper and Tim Hardaway were some of the best known players who played for the Mavericks. Present player Jason Kidd has the biggest fan base.

Also sharing the space at Reunion Arena is the National hockey League team of the Dallas Stars. In 1967, the hockey team was known as the Minnesota North Stars. In 1993 the hockey team relocated in to Dallas where they became simply the Stars. They have had a solid playing record winning the President’s Cup twice which is presented to the organization with the best season record. They also won the famous Stanley Cup championship in 2005 against the Buffalo Sabres in front of a sell out crowd at home.

The final professional team in Dallas is named the FC Dallas and is the Major League Soccer team there. Their complete name is Football Club Dallas and are based in Frisco, which is a suburb of Dallas and were formerly known as the Dallas Burn that began in 1996. They play at Pizza Hut Park which a recently constructed stadium made only for soccer and seats more than 20,000 fans.
