trying to repair bad credit. need a major credit card approval to start building.any suggestions?

i’ve never had a credit card before, but have been told if i establish good credit with a card company it will begin to repair my bad credit.my bank declined to give me their in-house visa. are there any companies willing to help me?

  1. There are other ways of building good credit then with credit cards.

    You could take out a small signature loan with a bank that reports to the credit bureaus. If you have collateral (car, expensive jewelry, etc) then you can more easily take the loan out and repay it over time with the money you have borrowed.

    If you have existing bad credit and have not resolved those issues then having another credit card in your name and on your credit would do little to help raise your credit score.

  2. HSBC and bank of America have secured credit cards. You deposit a certain amount of money in their bank, Minimum of 200, and they will give you a credit card with a limit of that amount. worked great for me.
